Calling all dog parents in Bristol and beyond! Our tails are wagging with excitement to confirm the return of our annual dog portrait open day event at our photography studio in Downend, Bristol. We’re throwing open our photography studio doors to photograph your furry four-legged companions in all their adorable glory, and we couldn’t be more excited. There’s something so special about taking some dedicated time out to celebrate your best friend.

Ou Dog Portrait Day is a fantastic opportunity to capture your pooches personality forever. Our dog portrait days are dedicated days where we work exclusively with dogs offering mini photoshoot sessions in our dog-friendly photography studio. The mini photoshoot portrait session with your dog will only take up to 15 minutes. Our talented photographer will capture every wag and lick that makes your pup unique. It’s a relaxed environment and your dog will have some dedicated time in the studio with just them, so it’s safe to let them off lead and let them have a sniff around.

These are brief, 15 minute mini photoshoot appointments designed to keep things effortless and fun for your dog, running between 9am and 6pm on our dedicated event day. Because we have a packed schedule, all appointment bookings must be made online in advance to secure your spot in our diary. With limited spaces available we recommend booking as soon as possible to secure your perfect appointment.

Step into our dog-friendly studio for a relaxed, fun session tailored completely to your pup. Our talented photographer will capture every wag and lick that makes your dog unique. It’s a safe, private environment where your dog will have dedicated time in the studio with just them, so you can let them off the lead and let them have a sniff around and feel right at home. You may even get to meet Cleo, the dog belonging to West 70 Photography owners Adam and Marcus, who is often found sitting in the window at the front of the studio.

Our Dog Portrait Day is designed to be simple, fun and natural. Each 15 minute appointment gives us plenty of time to capture some relaxed, joyful portraits of your dog without taking up your whole day. Price starts from just £25 per dog. Remember, this event is by appointment only so make sure you book in advance.

We keep things wonderfully flexible by focusing entirely on digital images, rather than forcing you into print bundles like most photographers. This gives you total digital freedom to use the images as you’d like. You can print what you like, wherever and whenever you like, with zero pressure to buy physical products from us. By being fully digital it gives you so much more freedom to use and enjoy the images. For those that would like it, we do offer print services if you’d prefer us to handle the hard work and have the best possible quality physical copies posted straight to your door.

Your beautifully edited digital images will be sent to you in a private online gallery shortly after your appointment. They make wonderful, thoughtful gifts for the dog lovers in your life, or simply a brilliant keepsake to display at home.

Please note that appointment slots for our Dog Portrait Day are strictly limited to a dedicated day and must be booked online in advance (BOOKING LINK WILL BE MADE AVAILABLE WHEN THE NEXT DATE IS CONFIRMED). Make sure you book soon, as once the appointment slots are gone, they’re gone! If you can’t make the dedicated event day you can always book an appointment for another time, as dogs are always welcome at our studio. However, our Dog Portrait Day offers special promotional prices not available at other times.

Bookings, Payments & Cancellations: All Dog Portrait Day payments are strictly non-refundable. Gift vouchers cannot be used to pay for Dog Portrait Day appointments. Because these appointments take place on a dedicated event day, bookings cannot be rescheduled or refunded once payment is made. Please select your time carefully as it cannot be altered. If you fail to arrive for your appointment, your booking will be forfeit and no refund will be given. In the event of an emergency preventing you from attending, please contact us via e-mail with as much notice as possible. Refunds are not available even if you are unable to attend, for any reason.

Arrival & Session Structure: Please arrive at our studio in Downend a few minutes before your photoshoot is scheduled to begin (directions to us). If you arrive early we may be with another booking or getting things set up, so please bear with us. We will be ready for you at your scheduled appointment time. The Dog Portrait Day photoshoot will last up to 15 minutes. Appointments are scheduled every 30 minutes (a 15 minute appointment with a 15 minute buffer for cleaning and resetting the studio space) so please arrive promptly. We appreciate your consideration for other bookings by sticking to the 15 minute appointment time. Appointments may naturally conclude before the full amount of time has passed. These mini sessions are exclusively for dogs (no humans or other pets in the photos). We can photograph up to 4 dogs simultaneously (there is a fee per dog).

Studio Setup & What to Bring: Our Dog Portrait Day sessions make use of our classic studio backdrop setup. During your appointment, our studio space will be completely private and enclosed for your pup’s comfort and safety. Dogs must be kept on a lead in our waiting area and can be let off their lead once privately inside the studio space. We recommend bringing your dog’s favourite treats from home as a familiar reward or if they have special dietary needs, though we’ll have extra treats on hand too. You’re welcome to bring along any outfits or accessories, but please keep in mind the 15 minute limit includes any changing time. If you’d like photos featuring humans alongside your dog, or a more extended session, you can book an appointment online for another time.

Dog Behaviour & Studio Rules: Well-behaved dogs (and their owners) are very welcome. As every dog is different, please carefully consider if your dog is comfortable with visiting a studio environment where other dogs may be waiting nearby. We cannot delay or extend appointment times for dogs that are unsettled, nervous or uncooperative. Any time lost due to behaviour will result in fewer photographs being taken and we aren’t under any obligation to extend appointments to accommodate for this. If your dog really isn’t cooperating at the time of your appointment, you’re welcome to pop back later in the day if schedule space permits, but this can’t be guaranteed. Good behaviour is expected from both dogs and owners, and any dogs attending remain the sole responsibility of their owner. Owners are expected to clean up after their own dogs if accidents happen (poop bags will be provided). Dog breeds listed on the Dangerous Dogs Act are strictly not permitted for the safety and wellbeing of all visitors.

Packages & Upgrades: When booking your appointment you can pick between two package options to suit your pup and your budget. If you’re unsure which option to book, we recommend booking the ‘Viewing Package’ for £25 per dog. You can upgrade on the day to the ‘Everything’ package by paying the difference (£50). This upgrade option is only available at the time of the appointment and will cost extra if done at a later date when viewing your images online (£95 extra). Customers booked on the ‘Viewing Package’ will receive 1x digital image of their choice included, with the option to purchase extra individual digital images when viewing their gallery (£25 extra per image, or all images for £95 extra). Customers booked on the ‘Everything’ package will have access to all final digital images from their shoot. This promotional pricing is only available during our dedicated Dog Portrait Day, at all other times our usual photoshoot pricing applies..

Galleries, Prints & Delivery: Your private online gallery link to view the photos will arrive via email within approximately 7 days of the event. Please ensure the email address provided during booking is correct, and remember to check your spam folder as messages can sometimes end up there. Your online gallery will be available to view for two weeks from the date the images are ready, and an automated reminder will be sent to you before the gallery goes offline. It’s your responsibility to log in to the gallery within this time frame to select or download your photographs. Additional charges will apply for future access to your images once the gallery expires. All images supplied are digital files, and physical prints are only available for images you purchase as a digital file first. Print orders have a minimum spend of £20 and will be posted directly to you. The final number of images provided will vary based upon each dog’s reaction to the photoshoot experience, but we will always provide as many usable shots as possible.
