Calling all dog parents in Bristol and beyond! Our tails are wagging with excitement to confirm the return of our annual dog portrait open day event at our photography studio in Downend, Bristol. Taking place at West 70 Photography on [DATE FOR 2025 COMING SOON!] from 10am until 3pm (approx). We’re throwing open our photography studio doors to celebrate and photograph your furry four-legged companions in all their adorable glory!

Our annual Dog Portrait Day is a fantastic opportunity to capture your pooches paw-sitive vibes forever. Swing by with your fur-baby for a mini photoshoot session in our dog-friendly photography studio. The mini photoshoot portrait session with your dog will take up to ten minutes. Our talented photographer will capture every wag and smile that makes your pup unique. It’s a relaxed environment and your dog will have some dedicated time in the studio with just them, so it’s safe to let them off lead and let them have a sniff around.
It’s an open day affair so just drop by our studio: West 70 Photography Studio, 9 Cleeve Wood Road, Downend, Bristol, BS16 2SF. Directions to us: Google Maps, Waze, What3Words, Apple Maps. Come by between 10am and 3pm (approx) and let the pooch photo fun begin. We’re ready to capture those paw-inspiring moments that make your dog a special and treasured member of your family. Well-behaved dogs of all ages are welcome and don’t worry about the studio floor – it’s easily cleaned in case of any accidents (hey, it happens).

🐾 All The Fur-tastic Details 🐾
- 🐕 Furry Friends Galore: Well behaved dogs (and their owners) are welcome to attend for a mini portrait session featuring your pup.
- 🕒 Short and Sweet: Each mini session lasts around 10 minutes – no need for marathon modelling.
- 🐾 Pup Comfort: During your photoshoot our studio space will be private / enclosed for your dogs’ comfort.
- 🦮 Lead The Way: All dogs need to be kept under control and on a lead while in our waiting area. You can remove their lead during your photoshoot.
- 🐶 More The Merrier: We can photograph more than one dog at a time, recommended up to 4 dogs simultaneously (there is a fee per dog).
- 🌟 Treat Worthy: We’ll have treats on hand for all doggy visitors – but bring your dogs favourite treats from home too, as a familiar extra reward.
- 😎 No Pressure: We will have two package options available to pick from – we can advise on both, but it’s always your choice with no pressure.
- 💌 Keep an Eye on Your Inbox: Your online gallery link will arrive within approximately 7 days of the event.
- 💖Return Customer Discount: Visited us before (portraits, weddings etc)? You’ll be entitled to a special returning customer discount!
- 💳 Card Payments Only: We kindly ask that all payments are made by card as we do not accept cash.
🐾 How Does It Work? 🐾
Simply show up on the open day between 10am and 3pm with your dog(s). Please keep them on a lead when you arrive, as other dogs may be in the studio waiting area. You will be able to remove their lead when we are privately in the studio space for your appointment. There may be a wait if we’re already in the studio with another furry friend, but we won’t keep you waiting long as appointments are 10 minutes each, maximum.
You’ll be shown the two package options you can pick from (£25 for a single dog photo on our white backdrop or £75 for all the final photos – see ‘Pricing’ above). Staff are there to help and not upsell and they’ll happily guide you. You pay for the photoshoot at the end of the mini appointment (card only please – we do not accept cash) so if you’re not sure yet, don’t worry. We suggest that we see how the photoshoot goes and you can decide at the end of the mini session. We recommend bringing some treats along to reward your dog – we will have some available, but we know all dogs have different likes/dislikes and dietary needs. You’re welcome to bring along any outfits or accessories too, but please keep in mind the appointment is limited to 10 minutes and this includes any ‘changing time’. We’ll take as many photos as we can during the appointment. We have to strictly stick to the 10-minute photoshoot session to keep it fair for everyone, so if your dog isn’t co-operating at the time of your appointment, you’re welcome to pop back later in the day to keep things moving along, if possible. Returning customers will get a special on-the-day discount – returning customers are classified as former wedding photography couples, studio portrait customers and past pet portrait day customers.
We’ll take your contact information during the photoshoot, so we can send you the photos to view afterwards. We’ll email you a private gallery link within 7 days of the open day. We’ll provide as many photos as possible, but the final number can vary based upon each dog’s reaction to the photoshoot experience. This gallery link will be emailed to you at the email address provided during the appointment. Please check your spam folder for our messages as they sometimes end up there. 🐾 The Fine (Paw) Print 🐾
Appointments are offered on a first come, first served basis. We have a waiting area where you’re welcome to wait with your dog. We always welcome well-behaved dogs into our studio. During this open day event, all dogs must have a lead/collar on and be kept under control. Good behaviour is expected from both dogs and owners and we reserve the right to decline service based upon this. Other dogs may be on the premises during the open day, so please make sure your dog is comfortable with this. Any dogs attending are the responsibility of their owner and you may be asked to wait outside if causing a disturbance / distress to other dogs. Dog breeds listed on the Dangerous Dogs Act are not permitted, for the safety and wellbeing of all visitors. Each mini appointment will have access to our private enclosed studio space. This means your dog can be let off their lead during this time – if they are comfortable with this. We welcome pets at all of our photoshoot sessions, but please be aware this promotional open day event is for dogs only – this means no humans in the photographs. You can book an appointment online for a standard photoshoot if you’d like to be photographed with your dog. Please clean up after your dog, bags will be provided. We can photograph more than one dog at a time, in theory, this can sometimes be a challenge but we will do our absolute best to accomodate groups. There is a fee per dog and we recommend a maximum of 4 dogs simultaneously photographed.
If it gets very busy at the open day, we have a wait-list which will be strictly followed and names will be added on a first come, first served basis. You must be there in person to add your name to the wait-list. If you miss when your appointment is called, your place will be skipped and you will need to join at the back of the queue. Please be aware you may have to wait for your appointment, but we anticipate wait times to be minimal (based on past events). Opening hours are approximate and may be extended or amended. We will honour all appointments that arrive before 3pm. Payment by card only please. We do not accept cash.
